Shekina Oh
We all knew the signs of trouble—
grey clouds and light rain dripping
over our corrugated roofs, slipping
through the cracks in the walls
right before heaven pours on us
a river of tears; the flash floods
have come, and we must run
somewhere, anywhere
to seek refuge up in the mountains,
but how could we leave our homes
when a sea has knocked on our door?
We swim and search, clinging to life
as the wind and waves sweep us away,
tearing families apart in every corner
until they are of no longer—someone,
come and save us!
The typhoon has taken our homes,
and our people are suffering;
Mother Nature isn't very kind to us,
when will it be?
